With the country in lockdown and people told to limit social contact to counter the spread of coronavirus, a trip to the doctor’s surgery, with its busy waiting room, may fill you with anxiety.
Meyer Clinic is providing telephone or video consultations to anyone who is self-isolating or has any concerns about their health.
Our clinic already offers this service to our existing patients and, in light of the crisis, welcomes any new patients who would like an opportunity to discuss any medical issues from home during this challenging time.
What our Medical Director has to say
Speaking about remote consultations, Meyer Clinic Medical Director Dr Annelize Meyer (pictured) said:
“The medical profession needs to think about how best to consult with our patients during this period. Phone or video consultations are an option, especially for anyone who is self-isolating.
“Online consultations cancel the risk of patients transmitting coronavirus to their GPs, and vice versa. They are also much more convenient for patients.
“At Meyer Clinic, we already offer consultations via telephone and Skype to our patients. It is convenient, especially for those who have busy working lives and cannot always make an appointment in surgery or for those who live some distance away from our clinic.”
Online consultations provide reassurance
Although online consultations are not always suitable for all patients, especially for those who require a physical examination as part of their consultation, they can provide a sensible measure particularly for initial assessment or for pre-existing conditions.
Online consultations offer an alternative way for patients to consult a GP or other practice-based health practitioner, rather than having to wait for an available appointment, take time off work or rely on relatives or friends to attend the practice in person. Meyer Clinic consultations can be booked at a time that is convenient to the patient, with a choice of either telephone or Skype contact.
Meyer Clinic also provides online Nutrition Therapy consultations, with our celebrity-endorsed Dominique Ludwig, for anyone who would like advice on healthy eating. Nutrition is a critical determinant of immune responses. Eating the right foods, packed with the right micronutrients, can have a positive impact on our immune system which, in turn, can improve our defence against aggressive viruses and diseases such as coronavirus. If you have time read our blog on this.
Anyone who is worried they have coronavirus should call NHS 111 or go online to 111.nhs.uk. To protect yourself or others, do not go, to a GP, pharmacy or hospital.
