Hair growth treatment

Meyer Clinic understands that hair loss is an extremely sensitive and often upsetting condition. Hair loss in men is often due to genetics and can start as early as late teens becoming more apparent as men age. For women, hair loss is often affected by hormonal patterns, stress, medical conditions or by vitamin deficiencies and hair loss in women often become more apparent when the perimenopause or menopause are reached.

Supporting hair growth at Meyer Clinic starts with looking at the probable causes of hair loss for each patient and considering using a DNA based Trichotest to support a diagnosis. THE TRICHOTEST by Fagron, is a DNA test that helps show which treatment for hair loss will best work for you. This test is a game changer in the management of hair loss and can be done at home, or at clinic. A detailed report is created which gives guidance on the best course of treatment the Meyer Clinic can then prescribe.

There are various different techniques that are used to support hair growth in clinic, all of which are scientifically proven to work. These include PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatments and the use of Polynucleotides.

Polynucleotides are used to prime the scalp prior to treatment with PRP. Polynucleotides can reduce inflammation, improve the circulation within small blood vessels and function as a potent antioxidant, reducing inflammation and providing the ideal conditions for the growth of hair follicles.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is an autologous treatment, which means using your own blood to stimulate tissue growth. The blood is put through a simple process of spinning and then re-injected into the scalp, encouraging tissue and supporting hair growth in injected areas.

Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides are part of our regenerative medicine offering at Meyer Clinic, they form the building blocks for all cellular processes, were originally developed for wound care and have since been developed for use in aesthetic care. They have a potent biostimulator function acting as powerful antioxidants, they can reduce inflammation, reduce hyperpigmentation, improve healing, stimulate collagen 1 and 3 formation, improve micro-circulation, and increase elastin. They can also be used in difficult to treat areas of skin such as under the eyes and top lip.

Exosome Therapy

Exosome Therapy forms part of Meyer Clinic regenerative medicine approach and allows us to support treatment in clinic with a homecare regime.

Exosomes are minuscule particles that are naturally released from cells and contain a mixture of lipids, proteins, amino acids, and peptides, essentially all the building blocks needed for cellular repair and their main function is to enable cell-to-cell communication. Exosomes penetrate the skin easily due to their fatty envelopes and then trigger the regeneration and production of collagen and elastin on each application, also reducing any skin discomfort and reducing inflammation during in-clinic treatment.

PLATELET RICH PLASMA THERAPY

Meyer Clinic offers PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Therapy to patients for the face and it can be beneficial to people who have wrinkles, sun damage, or scars. By placing PRP back into the skin, cell proliferation is encouraged. This leads to an increase in elastin and collagen production. As a result, the skin will look tighter, fuller, and smoother.  The patient journey includes coming into clinic and having a consultation. Your blood will be taken, and specially spun in a centrifuge which then separates the plasma and platelets. The active part is then be directly injected back into your scalp. This has the potential to re-energise the hair follicles, stimulate new collagen production, tissue regeneration and stimulate the anagen phase i.e., growth phase of hair.
